All mushroom descriptions on this site are in French, but don’t worry, you’re not missing much. Those descriptions are really silly. If you absolutely want to read them, please use the automatic translator available in your browser. The translation may very well be closer to reality than the original text.
You need a large screen and a mouse to see everything here. Large mushrooms cannot fit on a phone or tablet.

Wotoshroom
My name is Wotomoro and I’m a mushroom photographer. Originally I was a snail hunter, but I switched to mushrooms, it’s less dangerous.
Real Mushrooms
All of the mushroom photos you see here were taken in the Laurentian boreal forest, 150 km north of Montreal. These are real mushrooms in their natural environment; however I often do a little cleaning to make the bottom part more visible. I remove the leaves and twigs from the ground at the base of the mushroom. I’m sorry to report that all these mushrooms are now dead; mushrooms don’t like snow.
Improbable Natural Lighting
The forest undergrowth is a dark place, perfectly suited for mushrooms but not the photographer. I use between 1 and 3 mini spots (flashlights) for lighting.
Focus Stacking
The technique used for the photos is called ‘focus stacking’. Ten photos with different focus distances were captured for each mushroom. These ten photos were combined to create a final image with stunning depth of field. Blending ten photos into one is neither simple nor perfect. Artifacts appear as mainly local focus differences. Some parts of the image are sharp and others are blurry. In a normal photo, the blur changes depending on the distance between the subject and the camera. With the technique used here, we see blurry areas almost everywhere.
A Layer of Paint
To get a sharp image everywhere, I used artificial intelligence software called an “upscaler”. This technology enlarges photos and creates detail where there is none. A warning to botanists: the details created by this software range from pure realism to crazy fantasy. This layer of paint is the work of a competent robot artist who doesn’t care much about respecting reality. All the mushrooms in Wotoshroom are real mushrooms until you look under a magnifying glass.

Seen from a distance it’s the same image, clearer.

Close-up view shows that details are added.
